Drop - Design Solution

Our final design was an ironed-out version of the second concept. It contains an internal battery, low-flow showerhead, screen to monitor real-time showering data, a turbine to charge the battery and monitor water flow, and a solenoid valve to control water flow. Additionally, in our final design, we added a Bluetooth speaker, proximity sensor, and flexible arm. This Bluetooth speaker would allow users to play music through them, and it would also allow for auditory alerts for when the shower is approaching its end. The proximity sensor would allow for modulation of the flow depending on whether or not the user is within the showerhead’s line of sight. If the user is outside of the showerhead’s range, it will shut off the shower, preventing the waste of water. When the user steps back into the showerhead’s line of sight, it will resume water flow. The device also includes buttons that allow the user to pause, rewind or skip songs. Lastly, the internal thermometer monitors water temperature, so that when the user is waiting for the shower to warm up, it will automatically shut off water flow when the desired temperature is reached. This is also used to shut off the flow when water temperatures reach a dangerous level, preventing burns from high water temperatures.
